While routing through some old notebooks I came across this short film idea. I have finished storyboarding and expect to begin filming during the summer of 2003.

The idea consists of twelve moments involving a combination of five characters. The content of each moment and the order in which they appear will establish connections between the characters and go towards insinuating thderlying theme of the film.

Below is one of the moments in its original form, the script translation and subsequent storyboard:

Original

A man and two women are on a deserted beach pushing against each other. The man wins but while he is celebrating he is overcome with a strange feeling. Turning he sees the image of his mother approaching who was murdered a year ago to the day.

Script

A pair of women's hands press forcefully, the tension evident in their tendons and muscles. Y strains as he pushes, his face crumpling with effort and desire. A and B are side by side pushing against him on the beach, planting their feet in the sand and driving hard with their arms into his chest. He fights to position his hands on their shoulders trying to get the optimum angle to overcome them. They tussle for a while, neither side appearing to have the advantage until, with a sudden burst of energy, Y pushes the women away from him sending them tumbling onto the sand. He leaps into the air, thrusting his arms skyward in celebration. A and B are frustrated and throw handfuls of sand at him in disgust. All of a sudden Y's festivities halt as he is overcome by a powerful feeling. Standing still now he slowly turns his head around, succumbing to his curiousity while sensing suspicion growing within him. A woman is approaching along the otherwise deserted shore, stepping slowly with her head dipped. Y watches intently, knowing this figure is the cause of his discomfort. The stranger nears and comes into focus, raising her head and smily at Y who, angry and highly suspicious, refuse to believe what he is seeing. It is his mother and she opens her arms in a welcoming gesture as she draws nearer. From a distance we see Y looking on in terror at an empty stretch of sand. A and B throw some more sand at his back.
