One of a series entitled "Visual Poetry" that was to be accompanied by the following poem:
Flame
A flame.
The candle wax melts
Forming rivers of white
That cascade from the molten reservoir
Over the side like cataracts.
And then -
The flame is inhaled;
Consumed by its benefactor.
Smoke dances and swirls
And comes out of my eyes,
Obscurring;
And the world turns black again.
It presented a particularly difficult challenge in frame 9: Flame inhaled. Due to the limitations of the available equipment the visuals were reworked slightly and the resulting piece appeared as a vignette in a subsequent film, "Soluble Fish."
